Random Things

February 27, 2006
Random notes on things:
  1. I ran into Alex, a co-worker, on his experience flying back from vacation. We happened to be on the flight he couldn’t get on; he describes the wacky way he was treated better than I can; it’s a good description of some of the problems with customer service today.

  2. More Averbuch’s on the web (who I have never spoken to or met)
    1. Yael Averbuch is a soccer player at Univ. Of North Carolina
    2. Her mom, Gloria, is a prolific author. More on their family is here

Eating at home

November 1, 2005
I came to a realization that I eat out way too often… both from an economic and health perspective, it’s not a good idea for anyone to do. While I am not a great chef, by any means, I at least find my food edible, so I can save a lot of money by cooking and eating at home. I’ve made it my goal (outside of today, when I had a lunch meeting) to make this "eat at home" week. I’ll see if I keep it up…

The problem is, that when I cook for myself, I don’t make/eat enough veggies; I end up very meat-heavy, since I eat vegetarian so often when I do eat out. This gives me some balance and protein, but my eating habits go completely out of whack. I need to come up with a good compromise.

What I do make well, and really enjoy: (and you can see, for the most part, the meat problem)

  1. Lamb chops
  2. Grilled chicken
  3. Fried Plantains
  4. Mac and Cheese
  5. Veal riblets
  6. Pineapple Chicken
  7. Some others I am sure I am forgetting about.

Talking about Blah blah blah: Revenge of the Low Seeds

March 22, 2005

And it all comes full circle – from one Washington (WashU) to the next (U-W, or my next door neighbor)

Quote

Blah blah blah: Revenge of the Low Seeds

(I do enjoy how this opens the door for Washington to get to St. Louis, perhaps the most disrespected one-seed ever, even more so than Saint Joe’s last year and the ’94 Missouri team. Not just because UW was a victim of the perpetual east-coast bias, but also because there is already a university by the name of Washington that has been in St. Louis for quite some time.)
