FreeCell

December 11, 2007

(this post was written while I was flying and will be posted once I get online later- actual written time, 7:25 PM, Dec 11)

I am no good at FreeCell. Never have been. My goal for the rest of the flight (or as long as the battery lasts) is to get better.

Solitaire, I can win that (on the PC) often enough. FreeCell – not at all. Is it even possible?

Frustrating. (Then again, I haven’t played it in years; just remembered it even existed).

Random Notes

  1. For the first time since the world cup started, there are no games today. Apparently only only 6% of Americans are watching; I think that just proves that my social circle is different from "the rest of America." My father and brother are huge soccer fans of all kinds, I pay attention to World Cup and World Cup qualifying, and most of my friends are World Cup watchers. At work, every lunch time the past couple of weeks has had half of the company sitting in front of our TV watching games (and some people sneaking away to watch even more). It definitely feels like a broader audience than past years (the games not being at 2:30 AM definately help here, of course)
  2. The Tigers are still rocking. It’s been a good year for Michigan sports; Pistons and Red Wings had the best regular season record (albeit with playoff losses), and the Tigers are doing the same. When will it be the Lions turn? Please!
  3. I packed last night for the upcoming trip – as usual, I am convinced I packed too much and not enough at the same time; inevitably, I end up with lots of crap I’ll never use but not enough of what I need. It looks like it will be 65-72 Farenheit (w/ rain) most of the time we’ll be in Europe; which unfortunately is right in the short sleeve during the day, long sleeve at night weather, which means more clothes needed!
  4. I got all of the luggage into 30 lbs, which is 13 kgs. Our limits are 23 kg for most of our flights, though we are restricted to 20kg for our flight from Bergen to Oslo (on Norwegian Air). As long as I don’t a ton lots of souveniurs, I’ll be perfect. No gifts for you!
    1. As an aside, google has a cool calculator to convert measurements in it’s search. For example, search for "30 lbs in kgs" (without the quotes). Or see http://www.google.com/search?q=30+lbs+in+kgs
  5. MSN Spaces is going through some redesigns, changing URLs every couple of weeks. The best way to get back here remains http://averbuch.net – I’ll make sure it always points to the right place.
